As a Church school we have a distinctive character in which Christian values are promoted in school life. We encourage all members of the school community to promote a Christian ethos where care and respect is shown to everyone. We also have strong links with the Parish Church of St Bartholomew. Class assemblies, celebrations of the main Christian festivals and special services to mark the end of the school year all contribute to our community life. There is an act of worship every day, these mainly take place in school, though some are held in at St Bartholomew’s church.

We have a very active Christian Values group that was formed in 2009 and is made up from staff, pupil and community representatives. The Christian Values the group has chosen to focus upon are: Hope, Peace, Trust, Endurance, Koinonia (Fellowship), Creation, Compassion, Forgiveness, Reverence, Thankfulness, Friendship and Wisdom. The pupils from the group lead regular acts of worship within the school.

Our Diocesan inspection of 2017 found that:

“A strong, inclusive and aspirational ethos is based on clear Christian values which underpin the school’s work. This impacts positively on the exemplary behaviour of pupils and the caring and respectful relationships which characterise the school”
